Dr. Alexander (Sasha) Soane

VP, Research & Development

Dr. Sasha Soane, an expert in plasma physics and microwave technology, has led the R&D group at Carbogenesis since 2022, spearheading a team of physicists and engineers to produce the main Carbogenesis prototype. His scientific responsibilities, including theory, experimentation, engineering, and project management, allowed Sasha to develop novel approaches to carbon capture and utilization (CCU), thus matching his technical expertise with his passion for planet-saving decarbonization. Sasha is also responsible for Carbogenesis’ business development, introducing decarbonization stakeholders to this groundbreaking technology. Before joining Carbogenesis, Sasha was a Senior Research Scientist at Transform Materials LLC, coordinating the company’s scientific work in plasma physics and related technologies.  

Before his entrepreneurial involvement with Carbogenesis and Transform, Sasha was an Associate at Exponent, Inc, a technical consultancy in NYC. This role allowed him to explore the intersection of his scientific background and commercial ventures. Inspired by this experience, he pursued an MBA at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School to expand his business capabilities.

Sasha received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from MIT, where he researched high-power, high-frequency microwave engineering under the direction of  Dr. Richard Temkin. He authored several scientific papers based on this research, including one that earned the outstanding student research award at the International Vacuum Electronics Conference in London.
